Trying to bring new life to an old mill

Recently, the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center contributed a $25,000 pre-development grant for an architectural analysis and feasibility and marketing studies for the former Double Shoals Cotton Mill in Lawndale. The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners gave $5,000, which can be recouped if the structure sells.
