Cleveland County Commissioners honored Porter Yelton, a fifth grader at Marion Itermediate School, for winning the county geography bowl held on Feb. 27 at Graham Elementary School.

I am the courts and government reporter for the Shelby Star. Previously, I covered government for the News-Topic in Lenoir, NC. In 2004, I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD. During my time in college, I was editor of the student newspaper, The Columbia Journal.
